The Insight and Stratos altimeters provide a “Freefall Speed” option to change the speed that the altimeter uses to detect freefall vs. canopy flight during the descent. For most users this option is not needed and the default configuration will work as expected.
Change this setting only for slow speed wingsuit flights.
From the clock screen, press the center button to enter the menu.
Navigate to Settings->FF Speed:, then press the center button to toggle between the options.
Normal – This setting will determine speeds above roughly 83mph to be freefall. The altimeter has built in logic to guard against triggering freefall during a high speed canopy swoop.
Slow – This setting will determine speeds above roughly 23mph to be freefall. This setting is mainly appropriate for wingsuit flights. Using this mode along with a small and fast canopy will cause the altimeter to record only freefall data for the entire skydive.
