1. Who We Are
This policy explains how Deep and Steep LLC (“we,” “our,” or “us”) collects, uses, and protects personal information through our website (deepandsteep.io), our online store, and the Deep and Steep mobile app (the “App”).
2. Information We Collect
Website and Store
- Order information: name, email address, shipping and billing address, phone number (if provided), and the items you purchase.
- Payment information: payments are processed by third-party payment processors such as Stripe. We do not store or have access to your full card details.
- Support requests: the information you submit when contacting us, such as your name, email, country, product, firmware version, and message.
- Cookies: cookies needed for the shopping cart and checkout to work.
App
- Account information: an email address and a display name, which does not need to be your real name. We do not collect your physical address or phone number through the App.
- Activity and location data: logbook entries and GPS track data recorded by your Deep and Steep device or the App.
- Technical data: device model, operating system version, and crash reports used to fix problems.
The App may ask for Bluetooth and location permissions so it can connect to your device and record tracks. You can change these permissions in your phone’s settings.
3. How App Data Is Stored
- Local storage (default): logbooks and GPS tracks are stored only on your phone. We cannot access this data unless you choose to share it with us.
- Guest mode: data is cleared each time you leave the App and is never uploaded.
- Cloud sync (opt-in): only if you turn on cloud sync are your logbooks and GPS tracks uploaded to our servers. You can turn it off at any time, and new data will then be stored only on your phone.
4. How We Use Information
We use personal information to process and ship orders, provide customer and warranty support, create and manage App accounts, back up data you choose to sync, fix bugs and improve our products, and send account or order messages. We send marketing emails only if you opt in, and you can unsubscribe at any time.
For visitors in the EU, EEA, and UK, we process data to perform our contract with you (orders, support, and App accounts), with your consent (cloud sync and marketing emails), to meet legal obligations (tax and accounting records), and for our legitimate interest in keeping our products working.
5. Sharing Information
We share personal information only with service providers that help us run our business, such as payment processors, shipping carriers, website and cloud hosting, email, and customer support tools. These providers may use the information only to perform services for us. We may also disclose information when required by law.
We do not sell personal information. We may share or sell aggregated, de-identified data (for example, general dropzone popularity) that cannot be linked to you or your account.
6. Retention
App account and cloud-synced data are kept while your account is active and deleted when you delete your account. Order records are kept as long as required for tax, accounting, and warranty purposes. Support records are kept as long as needed to help you with your product.
7. Your Rights
Depending on where you live (including under the GDPR, UK GDPR, PIPEDA, and US state privacy laws), you may have the right to access, correct, or delete your personal information, to withdraw consent, and to object to certain processing. You can update your display name and email in the App, and you can delete your account by following the steps on our Account Deletion page. For other requests, contact us through our Support page. We will not treat you differently for exercising your rights. If you are in the EU, EEA, or UK, you may also file a complaint with your local data protection authority.
8. Security and International Transfers
We use encryption to protect cloud-synced data in transit and at rest. Deep and Steep LLC is based in the United States, and information we receive is processed in the US.
9. Children
Our products and App are not intended for anyone under 18. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children and will delete it if we learn we have.
10. Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy from time to time. The “Last Updated” date at the top shows when it was last changed.
